Not officially. The original Club Penguin closed on 30 March 2017, and its follow-up app, Club Penguin Island, closed on 20 December 2018 (Wikipedia on Club Penguin and Club Penguin Island). As of September 2026, there has been no official announcement of a return.

What you can play here is a free, fan-made revival of the game as it was in 2017, not an official comeback.

A test version opened to players in August 2005, and the game opened for everyone on 24 October 2005. It closed on 30 March 2017 at 12:01 in the morning, Pacific time, about eleven and a half years later (sources: Wikipedia, RocketSnail). There's more in the full story.

Club Penguin announced the closure on 30 January 2017 and pointed players to a new mobile app, Club Penguin Island (TechCrunch). Old accounts didn't carry over to it (Delisted Games). The app didn't last either: it closed in December 2018, and a company letter reported by Kotaku blamed "increasing global competition".

No. This island is a fan-made, educational project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the company that owns Club Penguin and all of its art, music and characters, and nobody makes money from it. The about page explains why it exists, and rights holders can reach us through copyright and takedown.

No. Club Penguin Rewritten was a different fan server. It closed on 13 April 2022, when City of London Police took over its website in a copyright investigation (TechCrunch). This island is a separate project, so accounts from Rewritten or any other server don't exist here.

Yes. There are no payments, no ads and nothing for sale, and nobody makes money from the island. Every penguin can also use what used to be members-only, at no cost, from the very first login. All you need is a free penguin.

No. Club Penguin was made with Adobe Flash, which browsers no longer run. Here, the game's original 2017 files play through Ruffle, an open-source Flash Player emulator that runs inside the web page. There's nothing to download or install: a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari is all you need, on a computer, phone or tablet.

Very nearly. Your browser runs the game's own files from 2017, unchanged: the last newspaper inside them is dated 22 March 2017, a week before the original closed. The server behind it is a fan-made recreation called Houdini, so now and then something may behave a little differently from how you remember it. No, sorry. The original accounts closed with the game in 2017 and nothing from them was carried over, so an old penguin, its items and its coins can't come back. Everyone here starts fresh: create a new penguin. You can even try your old name, if nobody here has taken it yet.

Yes, right in the browser. On a phone the game opens in a portrait layout: the camera follows your penguin, and big buttons along the bottom work the game's own controls. Turn the phone sideways to see the whole room. You can also add the game to your Home Screen, so it opens like an app. Playing on a phone has the details.

Create a penguin (it takes a minute and needs no email address), press Play now, log in with your penguin's name and password, and pick the Blizzard server. New penguins start with 500 coins and a party hat. The how to play guide goes through it step by step.

The classic minigames are waiting in their old spots: Pizzatron 3000 in the Pizza Parlor, Cart Surfer in the Mine, Jet Pack Adventure at the Beacon, and Ice Fishing, Aqua Grabber, Hydro Hopper and Thin Ice around the island. Every game pays coins. The games guide shows where to find each one and how to play it.

13 or older. When you create a penguin we ask for the month and year you were born, on the page only. If you're under 13 we stop there, and nothing is sent to us. The island isn't run by a company with full-time moderators, which is why it's for teens and grown-ups. There's more on the page for parents.

Chat is public in each room. Penguins talk with the game's own Safe Chat phrases, picked from a menu. Typed chat is off for everyone except moderators unless a moderator switches it on, and anything typed while it is off never reaches anyone. There are no private messages to strangers, and every new penguin name is checked.

Move away, and use Ignore on their player card so you stop seeing their messages. Then email abuse@clubpenguins.lol with the penguin's name, the room, the time and what happened; a screenshot helps a lot. A person reads every report, and we never tell the other penguin who reported them. See reporting a player.

As little as the game needs: your penguin's name, a scrambled version of its password that we can't read, its colour, and the items, coins, igloo and friends it collects. Server logs, which can include chat and IP addresses, are kept only for a short time, to stop abuse. We don't ask for an email address, a birthday or your real name, and there are no advertising or analytics trackers. The privacy policy has the full list.

Email contact@clubpenguins.lol with your penguin's name. Because we don't store email addresses, we may ask for a small sign inside the game that the penguin is really yours. Deleting a penguin removes it and everything it owned, for good. The steps are in the privacy policy.
