Start in three steps
All you need is a web browser. It's the same island, and the same penguin, on every device.
Create a penguin
On Create a Penguin, pick a colour, choose a name and a password, tell us your hatch day (the month and year you were born) and take the penguin pledge to follow the rules. Penguins must be 13 or older, and there's no email address to give.
Press Play now and log in
The game loads right in your browser. Log in with your penguin's name and password.
Pick Blizzard and waddle in
Choose the Blizzard server and you're on the island. Every new penguin starts with 500 coins and a party hat.
On a computer
Use a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. There's nothing to install: the game's original 2017 files run in the page through Ruffle, a Flash Player emulator.
- Walk by clicking anywhere in a room.
- Travel with the blue map button at the bottom left, which takes you anywhere on the island.
- Talk and play with the bar along the bottom: the Safe Chat menu, emotes, snowballs, your friends list and your igloo are all there. Click another penguin to open their player card, or click your own penguin to change your clothes.
- Minigames show their own instructions before you start. The games guide says where each one is.
Above the game there's a small bar with a Home link (it logs you out), the server's status and a Full screen button. Press Esc to leave full screen.
On a phone
Open clubpenguins.lol in your phone's browser and press Play now. Recent iPhones and Android phones work best.
- Portrait comes first. The top of the screen is a camera that follows your penguin, and a control deck at the bottom works the game's own buttons: Phrases for Safe Chat, emotes, snowballs, the map, your friends, your igloo, your own player card (Me) and more. Tap in the room to walk.
- Follow or Whole room. Follow keeps the camera on your penguin; Whole room shows everything at once.
- The Menu button has Phrases, a Game pad for arcade games, Full screen (on Android) and Add to Home Screen.
- Minigames that use the arrow keys bring up a game pad with a D-pad and a big action button, like JUMP in Cart Surfer or GRAB in Aqua Grabber. Games you aim with the mouse get a touchpad under the game: slide to aim, tap to click.
- Landscape works too. Turn your phone sideways to see the whole room exactly as it looks on a computer, with the main buttons at the sides.
On a tablet
iPads and Android tablets use the same page. In portrait you get a big view of the room with the control deck underneath. Turn the tablet sideways and the whole game fills the screen, with a small Menu button in the corner.
Put it on your Home Screen
On your Home Screen the island opens full screen, like an app: same penguin, same server, same game.
iPhone and iPad
- Open Play now in Safari.
- Tap Share (on iOS 26 it is inside the ••• menu) and choose Add to Home Screen. The game's own Menu has an Add to Home Screen button that shows these same steps.
- Keep Open as Web App on, then tap Add.
Android
In Chrome, open Play now, tap Menu, then Add to Home Screen, and confirm. Chrome's own menu can add it too.
An iPhone or iPad keeps a Home Screen app's storage separate from Safari, so you'll need to log in once more there. Tick Remember me, and next time it's one tap.
If something goes wrong
- The island went blank. Phones sometimes take the game's graphics away while it's in the background. If the island goes blank, tap the button to reload it.
- Logged off after switching apps. If your phone paused the game while you were away, a "Welcome back!" message appears: tap Log back in.
- Slow after a long session. If you see a tip to refresh the island, tap it. It logs you out, and Remember me makes logging back in quick.
- Forgot your password? We never ask for an email address, so there's no reset email. Keep your password somewhere safe.
