What this is

This is a free, unofficial fan project that keeps the original Club Penguin game (as it was in 2017) playable in a modern browser, for learning and nostalgia. It is not made by, endorsed by or connected to Disney.

There are no ads, no payments, no memberships for sale and nothing to buy. We don't ask for an email address or a real name.

Ages 13 and up

Penguins on this island must be 13 or older. Chat here is public in each room. Penguins talk with the game's own Safe Chat phrases; typed chat is switched off unless a moderator turns it on, and the island isn't run by a company with a team of full-time moderators, so we don't offer it to younger children.

When someone creates a penguin we ask for the month and year they were born, on the page only. If they are under 13 we stop there, and nothing they typed is sent to us. We can't verify anyone's age online, so if you find that a child under 13 has a penguin, write to contact@clubpenguins.lol with the penguin's name and we will delete it.

What we store

Only what the game needs to work: the penguin's name, a scrambled version of its password (we can't read it), its colour, the items, coins, igloo and friends it collects in the game. No email address, no birthday, no real name and no advertising or analytics trackers. The privacy page has the full list.

Chat and names

  • Chat is public in the room. Penguins pick what to say from the game's Safe Chat menu. Typed chat is off for everyone except moderators unless a moderator switches it on; anything typed while it is off never reaches anyone. There are no private messages to strangers.
  • Names are checked. Every new penguin name goes through an automatic check that blocks rude words and pretend staff or character names.
  • The four rules (respect others, chat nicely, stay safe online, play fair) apply to everyone, and breaking them can lead to a warning, a kick or a ban. See the rules.

The best protection is still a conversation: remind your teen never to share personal information or passwords, and to tell you if anything makes them uncomfortable.

Reporting

Players can ignore anyone from their player card, and report problems to abuse@clubpenguins.lol (the penguin's name, the room, the time and a screenshot help). A person reads every report.

Deleting a penguin

Write to contact@clubpenguins.lol with the penguin's name. Because we don't store email addresses, we may ask for a small in-game sign that the penguin is yours before we delete it. Deletion removes the penguin and everything it owned.
